I have a pressure cooker and want to cook 2 x 1lb puddings, do I double the cooking time for 1 pudding or just cook for a little longer. I don't want the cooker to explode.

Hi Judy, Well in theory a 1lb pud should cook in the same time as 2 x 1lb puds, providing that the heat input is sufficient to keep the cooker up to pressure. The only difference is that it might take slighty longer to get to pressure with more mass inside, allow a few minutes extra for this.

Thankyou qapmoc for a such a quick reply, I am very grateful as I want to cook these puddings today.
I am going to do the same thing - the problem is, how long should I cook them for? Traditional steaming will just take too long.

To Dingbat63, I cooked my christmas puddings in the pressure cooker, the 2lb one took 30 minutes steaming then, 3 hours on high pressure, in 3.5 pints of water (with a lemon juice in to stop discolourisation of pan), the 2 x 1lb puddings (cooked together) took 15 mintues steaming, 1.75 hours at high pressure in 2.25 pints of water as above.
