Woke up to a power cut. House quite cold. Eventually realised it was just us.
OH tried to sort the fuse box out. It wouldn't let him trip the ground floor socket one.
Looked in phone book, have to ring 105 for help. Couldn't use main phone. My mobile needed charging. OH has a new mobile, it's very complicated and a tiny keyboard but I eventually managed to use it. Very helpful lady told us what to do. We had to unplug every appliance on ground floor then plug them back in one by one.
It was the dishwasher. I had put it on when I went to bed around 2.00 am.
It blew around 3.00am. Still full of water. He changed the fuse but no good.
Rang SIL who came round. Stripped it all down but couldn't find anything at all. Decided it was a tip job, we had had it for about 10 years. Took a while to sort the kitchen out after that.
Then I decided to start on dinner. We were having roast beef. But when I looked at the joint I realised it was brisket and it was now too late as it needed about four hours to cook it! So that joint went in the freezer and we had ribs in hoisin sauce instead.
Now looking on line for a new dishwasher.
I've had days like those, not quite to that extreme... but ones where you just feel like going back to bed. With everything going wrong at the same time. I hope tomorrow brings a brighter day for you Caran.
Oh gosh what a day you had. If you're still looking for the new machine, include AO in your search. We have used them for white goods and pleased with the service and quality. They will take away the old one too for a very small fee.
I am with brainiac on this one would never leave an appliance on when in bed or gone out. I had washing machine go on fire luckily I was in.. never ever leave on
I reckon I have been very lucky then, I have been putting the dishwasher on over night for about 15 years.
Never had a problem or even thought about it before.
I think I might change my habit now!
