Good Friday, for Christians traditionally the day when no meat is eaten. For my household fish is always on the menu on Good Friday - not because we're religious - simply because we're products of a Christian society and that's what we have always done. What about you?
We always used to have fish on Good Friday and it had nothing to do with religion. It was the way my parents were brought up. I did continue this for a few years when my children were growing up but now i don't bother. I actually had fish yesterday, so i'm definitely not having it again, today.
Yes....We had a delivery of fish to put in the freezer last week from our local fishmonger(Mermaid) Cod Loin, Parley Sauce, Majorcan new potatoes, Chantenay carrots and peas.
Yes. I'm eating my way through a large bag of frozen cod.
Using a packet of Knorr Crema de Marisco as a base, add vegetables , and then poach the fish.
It's not a religious thing.
No, sadly that tradition has long since gone here,we are Protestant and my mother would turn over in her grave hearing of anyone who ate meat today ( sorry Mum)
just goes to show how ignorant i am ,or have been badly misinformed as a youth,i was always led to believe it was a Catholic thing fish on a friday.but you say christian.
It appeared that way to us when we were young Jordy but I’m sure it wasn’t, I used to envy the catholic kids who went to their churches to get ash on their brows on Ash Wednesday, it always fascinated by it x
Why do we eat fish instead of meat on Good Friday? The tradition stems from the Roman Catholic custom to not eat warm-blooded animals on Fridays, to acknowledge and do penance for the death of Jesus.28 Mar 2018
Yes, salmon is on our menu for tonight.
Not by design or purpose-we are not Religious.
I always create a menu plan for about a fortnight in advance. Three meat meals, three different fish and a veggie based meal per week in rotation. It just so happens to be salmon today but that is quite by chance.
No, because no foods and all foods have significance being a product (sometimes by complex man made pathways) of the Earth. Actually it's chickpea and sweet potato curry with cauli rice
