Jalfrezi is a very flavourful medium hot dish. Peppery and sometimes with coconut sweetness. Most meats and prawns as well as veg can be made Jalfrezi style. Sometimes written Halfrezi. I enjoy Tarka Dahl and Mushroom fried rice
I love all Indian food but Indian restaurant food is very different to Indian home cookery. I like medium curries as well - no point in having them too hot as you can't taste them. In India, I love Chettinad chicken but you don't really see it over here. I must try and make that one day.
Tarka Dahl is a lentil and garlic like gruel.
I loved (past tense) Indian with a passion, until I had an iffy one that that left me bedridden for a couple of days a few years ago, and even now the smell now turns my stomach, so I haven’t had one since, which is a great shame as I thought it was a great cuisine.

My favourite always used to be a decent King Prawn Madras with Sag Aloo and Bhindi Bhaji.

have any of you tried like the Indian food from Sainsburys - like is it authentic.
Sainsburys curries aren't that bad actually. Of all the supermarket curries, I always found the Sainsburys ones to be the best.
Sainsbury’s Indian food is very acceptable and enjoyable.
As to whether it’s authentic, I very much doubt it.
Try it and see what you think.
Snap sj ;)

237 I'm referring to like a complete takeaway in a "bucket" per se. Not the jars of curries.
I know what you mean JJ. I have never found the jars or pastes any good - they all taste the same.
That’s what I’m referring to jj, I think. The meals that come in a box with a couple of curries, rice, etc??

yep they're the ones -
I personally like Korma, which is creamy but not that hot. I think rogan josh is more medium, tomato and onions. I also find a stuffed paratha, (like a big potato cake), preferable to rice. Whichever you choose, enjoy!
I make my own curries with a mix which I buy from here https://www.angloindianchef.co.uk/ I modify them though. I marinate the chicken in yoghurt, lemon juice and tandoori spices and grill it before dunking it in the curry sauce. I make my tarka dal from herehttps://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/tarkadal_90055
An old mate of mine was Anglo Indian. Now deceased. He reckoned the Sainsbury's selection was Pukka grub. His mum and Dad flew over from Canada and she was an accomplished cook. She also thought Sainsbury's did a good spread also.
Are you OK today 237sj?

Nowhere near enough garlic in that recipe for my taste. :-) At least eight or nine cloves.
Yes thank you shooter x Just contemplating eating pizza with salad but really want a curry now.
I've just had steak and chips but now I want a curry too...
