Tonight we had scampi, chips and mushy peas. I cook the frozen chips in my Actifry. Always turn out ok but not tonight. I tried a new, to me brand of chips. McCains Gastro Chips. They looked good, big and chunky but not good in the Actifry. They all crumbled into a mush. There was about 6 bits you could make out they had been chips. All the rest horrendous. They tasted ok but never again. Back to Lidls own brand now, nothing fancy.

I've had those McCains Gastro Chips, very nice ( done in the oven though ). Try doing them in the oven next time, Caran.
What a shame Caran, as Tony says probably best in the oven.
The Gastro chips already have a coating of oil and dripping so are partly cooked as I recall.
Yes they are, Mamya.
I used the McCain's Gastro-chips in a hot-air fryer and they were very good. Never mind - at least you cooked them. My worst was a packet of buttered/herbed/new potatoes..... I was rushed and stuck them on the table without having cooked them........they looked OK.... then a guest tried to eat one. :( :( :(
too hot here for cooking
I used my Air Fryer once and never again - does anybody want one for free. They are a curse and monstrosity to have in your kitchen. Mine is out in the shed right now.

JJ i love mine normally. Just picked the wrong chips this time.
Why don’t you just chop up potatoes and make chips?
I use oven chips.

A possibly worse dinner disaster could have been when my mum gave us raw chicken. She thought that because it had some kind of sauce on it it must have been already cooked.
I had a small pork pie and a ice cream.

I normally use frozen oven chips.
Sherr I'm too lazy and can't be bothered!!
Fair enough :)
It would take a few minutes to chop spuds for 2 people.
All mistakes are lessons learnt arent they Caran!
