just watched on youtube a dish being made - she used a cup of flour - now what that would be self raising, plain - it was to make an end result of walnut cake. Thanks

I have to go out and buy flour

I would imagine if it's for a cake it must be self raising, unless baking powder is also in the ingredients

thanks Sam - just looking at my written version - just baking soda no baking powder and also says "don't sift the flour".
Most recipes are listing all purpose flour, baking powder and baking soda.
Can you not watch the video again to check what was said or look in the description for a link to the recipe?
You can replace baking soda with baking powder if you have it. Alternatively, just use self-raising flour.

She didn't give the name of flour - just add flour - I find this with many recipes. Ok Anyway I'll go for self-raising flour Thanks all
jenny if you are watching an American/Canadian video they will always refer to 'Flour' or 'All-purpose flour'. Self-rising flour is not readily available in the USA. SR flour will do the job fine.
