How can a person stop eating food when there is nothing else to do. I am trying to drink loads of water hoping against all hopes.

I've gone down the jigsaw route mentioned, and also taken to chewing gum again, but it's still difficult. I spend hours on the internet too, which can be educational if you choose wisely. I've embarked on several Courses (free) with FutureLearn, some of which have been very absorbing (but some have been awful unfortunately).
I end up with doing something quite popular years ago, but seems to not be popular any more and that's twiddling my thumbs - give it a try perhaps :-D
Good luck.

I think jj means she can’t go out socially at the moment. Normally I go out to coffee, lunch and the theatre quite often. I do an exercise class weekly, a monthly Breathe Easy meeting, a monthly Lierature at Lunchtime talk, weekly line dancing and occasional days out . All this is gone and no amount of jigsaws, crosswords, puzzle books, TV, DVD’s, books, walks and phone calls from friends can replace these activities which distract me from eating, except at set mealtimes. This, to me, is what nothing else to do means.
