Muffins In A Glass -- With Used Jam-Jars?

I have chanced upon this recipe which utilises glass jars instead of the usual baking tins.

The recipe points out that any screw-top, glass jars that one would otherwise throw away could be used.
I expect that warming such glasses in very hot water, before popping in the cake-mixture should survive the oven session.

Or has anyone had experience with exploding glass jars in their ovens?

Thank you, in advance.

After burrowing through all the quips, the links are interesting and I will use them for reference.
The recipe is in German. Suffice it to say, that the picture with it shows the muffins having survived a bake! (zey haff vays unt meenz ...) 180°C for 25 minutes.
Oiling the insides of the glasses and adding crumbs avoids sticking. Then simply eat out of the glass.
Don't tell a Russian; he'd likely throw his over hi shoulder.

Should I survive, I will tell you of the trials and tribulations I had to endure. Now with true English robust spirit, I will begin this endeavour which will, of that I am certain, go down in English history. 'Hurrah!' stage left. But don't tell the Germans.

I mean just why would you?
