Oh Has New Hearing Aids!

He is on a weeks free trial with hearing aids from Amplithon. Supposedly much stronger than his NHS ones. He says they seem better and he has control with a remote over the tv. It has been very frustrating for both of us. Sometimes I am repeating things two or three times. We have had some laughs though. One day I said something to him, why do you want to do that he asked. Sorry I said I don't know what you mean. He said, why do you want to spread poached salmon over your legs? Boy did I laugh!!
He seems to be coping really well with them.
Only snag is he was due to have a Cochlea implant 16 months ago, it was cancelled the day before he was due. I have asked if they have any idea when it could happen, they said anytime from now to twelve months. If the op takes place he won't need the hearing aid in that ear. At nearly £2500 it does pose a question, but I suppose any improvement in the interim is better than none.

Can he lipread which is so extremely beneficial to him.

Ewe reckon he does to a certain extent, but it is difficult with people wearing masks.

that's true Caran - forgot about that at the moment. But if and when the masks come off - he could enrol in a lip-reading class. It would be great for him.

I have had 2 or 3 very expensive aids but I told you before - I found my NHS works fabulously for me as in strong.

Are you sure that you really ought to be telling us about the kinky stuff that you and your hubby get up to with poached salmon, Caran?

It's good to know that something seems to be going right for you though, after some of the 'troubled' threads that you've posted recently. Let's hope that it stays that way!
