Are you a porridge person?
I'm getting a bit fed up with my usual breakfast so thought I'd buy some porridge oats instead, but when I looked on the Tesco website, I was amazed at how many different brands and types there are.
If you like porridge and have tried different types, could you recommend any please?

I buy the packets containing 10 sachets. They come in a variety, starting with plain oats, to oats with added fruit and/or honey. They take 2 minutes in the microwave or my current brand 1m 45secs.
They all taste nice and I like the convenience.

Wow, I didn't realise there are so many ways to eat oats.
Thanks to all for your answers and ideas.
Sorry Barsel just come back on and see your question. The ones I buy are Mornflake traditional oats and cost 59p for 500 grams in Home Bargains.
//Why stove top when the microwave does it in a fraction of the time and no sticky pans to wash.//

Yes I hated washing the gooey pan & wasting the residue. Now I do it in the microwave in the bowl (takes about 90 seconds) and chuck the extras in after. Clean & simple!
dunno how you folks eat aldi or tescos own brand porridge, i´ve already bought my oats from a health food shop. I did run out once and tried aldis, i couldnt eat it, it was i imagine like eating sawdust.
I too cook it in a saucepan briefly say a few mins, cover it and eat it next morning, i normally use soya milk, plus a ripe banana, plus a shake of cinammon.
^...and, of course, bought from a "health food" shop, it must be better.
Oats is oats!
with a difference perhaps...

oatmeal porridge and prawns. https://dailycookingquest.com/oatmeal-cereal-butter-prawns.html
Y Felin (The Mill) in St Dogmaels in Pembrokeshire sell excellent oats
Yes...there is such a thing as savoury oats. I've bookmarked a recipe that has sesame oil, a bit of coconut milk, and miso in it. A friend tried it and really liked it.
I don't think oats are all the same, if only for how they are processed. As piggy said, some are like sawdust...and mush when cooked. Eeuuchh.
