Cheddar Cheese Body Odour

My aged relative smells very strongly of cheddar cheese within a few hours of his shower. It is not his breath and even his hair has this odour.
I've checked his scalp and looked in his mouth but everything looks as I would expect to it.
This has been going on for a week or so and it is a real puzzle.
I know some illnesses and diseases can cause unusual smells but I can find nothing online except for women's 'bits'. I know he is clean everywhere because I shower him and the smell is not coming from his genitals.

If I didn't know better I would suspect him of rubbing his head with a family size block of chedddar - I checked and know for certain he has not been at the cheese.

Anyone any experience of this? Any clues?

Change his shampoo/body wash. Any ear discharge?

Thanks, Anne, no ear discharge. I have to check them often because he wears hearing aids so it is important to keep them clean.
He uses the same shampoo as the rest of the family - Santex - which doesn't have a scent.

Is his hearing aid blocked by wax and is it clean?

I will give his hearing aids a good check when I wrest them from him at his bedtime. He is hearing okay so I don't think they are blocked but I will give them a good clean anyway.

Try changing the soap. For us, Imperial leather doesnt agree with me, I can detect am giving off a strange odour shortly after a shower and same happened to my good wife when Imperial leather met the menaupause.

From Dr. Google men have more fatty acid and when this mixes with axilla (armpit) bacteria it can smell like cheese

Yes, Corby - we can all smell it. His armpits don't smell of cheese, that's the first place we (my wife) checked. I didn't have the stomach for it.

Have you checked behind his ears, and are they cleaned when he's being cleaned? Worth checking, as well as getting his ears checked. Bacteria can build up and get on things like glasses, hearing aids, hair etc... and cause a smell.

Also between his toes, dry well powder. Could it be his shoes or slippers
