When you consider people such as Yasser Arafat & Barack Obama have been given prizes, who do you think has brought more improvements & happiness to the well-being of humanity?

I would nominate 1st, the man who invented the indoor flush W.C. (I think his name was Crapper)
Then the man who invented the washing machine (when I think how hard washing was for my mother in the 1950s). Next the electric blanket (joy!) & then the man who invented that wire device for slicing hard-boiled eggs, (a little wonder)
Who would you give a prize to?

The inventor of central heating. Anyone who invents push-button heating gets my vote. As a young lad, I had to clean out ashes from our grate and lay the wood and newspaper, ready for my widowed mother coming home from work. Until the fire really got going, we were cold. I'm really pleased that I can have hot water and a warm house as easily as I can nowadays.
Shouldn't the man who invented the door knocker get a No Bell prize?
Morrisey.
The Romans had central heating - underfloor central heating - and some poor beggars had to light the fires in the cellar and rake out the ashes etc!
stainless steel - before we had iron or silver cutlery etc. that rusted or tarnished.
the person who invented gin and tonic - with a slice of lime in it...

And no it wasn't the Captain of the Exxon Valdez....at his court case, he said that he had asked not for a tanker on the rocks but a Tanqueray on the rocks, slice of lime and ssshh, weppes.
The person who invented Slimming. Should get the NoBelly Prize.
Tommy robinson
Pres Trump for the no-balls prize his lack of support of his foot soldiers.

ABers know about the Ig-Noble Prize innit
( Medicine, Lnacet paper on collapsing lavatories in Glasgow,

First flusing bog was harrington 1598 - Elizabeth had one ( lavatory you naughty boys)
underfloor heating - hypocaust - odd since that is Greek
also used to heat pavilions of mandarins - er in China that is!
I'm not sure which one is worst, Morrissey or Tommy Robinson.
Boris fans on AB could nominate Boris for the No-Bull prize !
the rest of the us wouldnt
I was gonna ask if we had - - exhausted all variations of Nobel
BUT
but any politician who has to visit the STD clinic must surely be in line for the Nob-ill Prize
One more for you, Peter - the person who invented braces, or suspenders in American terminology, should get the No-Belt Prize.....
Khandro , //. Crapper did not invent the toilet, but he did develop the ballcock, an improved tank-filling mechanism still used in toilets today//
Yes Danny you are right.
One of those urban myths

Lankeela's brilliant answer really should end all the arguments.

On a serious note, Nobel prizes are primarily science awards of course.
Question Author
No they are not
Question Author
Outside of the sciences they are awarded for Literature, Peace & Economics
There are three science prizes and two non-science.
In an admittedly light hearted thread that starts out by rubbishing two people you obviously don't like and then goes on to talk about inventions, I thought it was worth pointing that out ;-)

Three of each, unless economics is now a science.
