I've got a pack of frozen mixed summer fruits (berries) from Iceland in my freezer. I'm planning to transfer some of them to my fridge overnight to defrost to use the following day. For how long would it be safe to use the defrosted fruit from the fridge? I may need to keep them in the fridge over a weekend in the future.
Thanks.
I'd say 2 days would be ok. Maybe longer. But the fruit may become very watery if it sits in the bag. If it's just a portion, then leave it in a sieve or colander.
But...why leave for a weekend, as it would defrost quite quickly in a cool area?
I have fruit with my breakfast and my evening yoghurt. I always use frozen fruit (blackberries, blueberries and summer fruits) which i transfer from the packet to a 1ltr yoghurt pot. Lid firmly on and lasts for days. True, after about 4 or 5 days, the fruit does soften a little but it's still edible and no adverse reactions.
Thank you all. I was thinking of transferring the frozen berries to a small plastic sandwich box with a tight lid in the fridge. Duration in the fridge would be a three days at most
You've given me the confidence to give it a go. Thank you all again.
