Maybe if you boil them for longer than usual they might be easier to mash?
Potato ricers good and they are no lumps left.
I thought you were only doing potatoes for one, haven't you got a masher? We used to use a fork (when I was a child). Potatoes for seven, that was hard work.

For two cash
You can buy mashed potatoes in the supermarket. I guess you'd heat them in the microwave.

Sandy. Wouldn't eat them neither would sister
When my wrists were bad, I used my food mixer, try your stick blender (I would if I had one)
Some hand blenders come with an attachment for mashing potatoes. e.g. https://tinyurl.com/mwdsdcb2
If yours has one (or something similar), then that's the obvious thing to try.

Otherwise this specialist version might be the thing to go for

As has been mentioned though, you can buy pre-prepared mash in Asda (et al).

The Idahoan range of dried mashed potatoes has lots of fans on AB too. It's available in most supermarkets:

If you have a stick blender, that should solve the problem. Cook spuds, chop into smaller pieces with a knife, add a drop of milk and butter and then use the blender. You can adjust milk and butter as you go along. Definitely works. :)
Doesn't doing mashed potatoes in a blender do something to the starch and they come out gummy?
They won't be fluffy or light.
In a blender you can't control it so well, pasta. A stick blender can be used more lightly - I've found it works with practice.
I'll have to try it sometime...maybe sweet potato mash one day this week.
Bake the potatoes and scoop out the insides. That’ll give you something easy to mash.
i'd deffo go for idahoan mash - easy and tastes good, and enough for 2 greedy people per pack
