Ok, I am soooo far behind this year what with accidents, sickness etc (I just need a good vet I think!). Soooooo what do you lovely lot usually buy? A frozen Turkey well in advance so you’re prepared, a pre-ordered fresh Turkey which you pick up a few days before Xmas or have it delivered, a Turkey crown, or something else!?? Answers on a postcard please!…….

Snap Tills. We are in a suite at a local hotel for 2 days and nights. Having said that, when I have done the Christmas cooking( yes I do) I long ago stopped getting a full turkey. It is nigh on a full day job to prepare and cook, and unless you are feeding a houseful and have plenty of help then you have got a mare disposing of the carcass and leftovers. A crown has been my option for quite some time now. This year I will sort out a nice slipper of ham for when we come home on Boxing Day, to have with CHIPS and home made bread. I have even cooked Goose in the distant past. Now that is another story.

Did I ever tell you the story about defrosting a Turkey in the bath on Christmas Eve? I won a Turkey in a local servicemen's club raffle that was to be collected on Christmas Eve. When I picked it up it was the size of a frozen Emu, with instruction that recommended 24 hour defrosting and 5 hour cooking. I was up all night filling and emptying the bath with warm water to defrost it and we had Christmas lunch at about 6pm. Pi55ed all of us.
