Sherbet lemons.
Penny chews of any flavour. We have a local traditional sweet shop which sells packs of various sweets from every decade from the 1940s onwards.
1 x Black Jack and 1 x Fruit salad for 1p on weekdays.
Sunday was the big treat day as I got a Sixpence. lol :-)
I used to like little choc/toffee sweets (we got 3 for ½p) we just asked for a penny worth milseán and got 6 sweets - loved them
there were chewing gums I liked too called Goldrush I think, they came in a bag like a swag bag
I used to do that with the red torpedoes too! I like tiger nuts but every now and again you would get a bad one. I've just discovered you can still buy tiger nuts but I'm not sure my teeth are up to the challenge now!

Aniseed Balls
Aniseed balls ,coconut mushrooms, spearmint chews ,treacle toffees
Sports mixture. Used to buy 5 on the way home from school.
I nearly always have sherbet lemons on my table.
The small round fruit gums, because they lasted so long. And small enough to hide under your tongue if teacher asked you to open your mouth. :0>
Flying saucers
Rhubarb Rock and White Chocolate Buttons though the latter made me feel sick. Main favourite was Newberry Fruits with the liquid centre - never see them these days.
Sherbet fountain with the licorice stick
Woolworths pick and mix
Floral gums, fruit pips, pineapple chunks, cola cubes,and flying saucers.
Hazlinny. Yorks fruits are pretty similar, I get them in Sainsbury's
Highland toffee, can still get it pulls fillings out later me nothing else
And those Toffee swirls with banana, strawberry and chocolate spirals

Thanks Margo - I do get Tesco or Sainsbury deliveries so will order. I really liked the liquid part.
