I bought one of these and it is absolutely brilliant apart from one thing! How do you clean the bits of egg white from between the slats? It takes ages to push them out with a sharp knife every time but I imagine there must be a secret to cleaning them? Any suggestions? Poached eggs on toast for dinner every day this week!

Would an old tooth brush work? I'm just guessing...I don't even know what an egg poacher looks like.

I bought a m/wave egg poacher (for 4 eggs) with a chamber underneath and a lid but I've lost the instructions. Do I use hot or cold water and how long for 4 eggs. Can you help please?
Margo, according to this, boiling water, 1 min 30 secs, rest 1 min

Lankeela, leave to soak.
Do you brush them with a little oil?
Thanks Barry I think that's breakfast tomorrow sorted

Margo I had the same! Would never have though to heat the water first (half full) then add the eggs and poach for 1.5 minute - 2 minutes for hard and only 1 for runny.

I leave the poacher in to soak and then use a sponge thingy to rub them clean but the white bits stick in the gaps - only way I have found is to individually poke them out with the pointy bit of a knife.

Lankeela, I love poached eggs but just can't do it. I must have every gadget under the sun and have watched every chef tell me how easy it is but have not managed it yet!

pasta that is worth a try! It is like two small sieves that the eggs sit in, which themselves sit in bowls of water - the water cooks the eggs and then you lift them out and they drain through the little slits which is where the bits of egg white get caught. I am away now till Monday, but will give you best answer and see if it works!
You don’t need a gadget to poach eggs ! Boiling water with White wine vinegar. Give it a swirl pop in the egg/s. 3 minutes… perfect. A little longer if you prefer harder yolks.

I do because I haven't got anything to heat the water on - I only have a table top oven and a microwave.

Yes Barsel, that is the very one I have. It is brilliant!
I've been wondering whether to get one as I'm hopeless at poaching eggs.
Try it, Barsel, but remember to always pierce the yolk before cooking. This lady didn't use a poacher but the principle is exactly the same https://mol.im/a/12135553
