My mother only drank at Christmas when she would enjoy advocaat and float a 'tiger's eye' on top.
I can't recall what the tiger's eye was - it did sit on top of the advocaat in a brown and gold coloured eye.
Any idea what it was?

Could it have been a glace cherry?
My mother and aunts always bought a bottle of advocaat at Christmas with lemonade and a cherry. The men drank Vat 69.
Question Author
No, it was an alcoholic drink she poured in to the advocaat and it floated on the top. Sorry I wasn't clearer in the OP
May be Brandy?
Just read a recipe for making a genuine Dutch advocaat. There is a mention if the user does not like the alcohol addition they could use non alcoholic rum extract. I might suggest that there would be some available extra after your Mum had made the Christmas cake or pudding mix. Of course if they didn't mind the alcohol they might pour neat rum on top of the nog. Should be some of that available over Christmas festivities if you have the taste for it. :-)

Thanks for the suggestions.
My parents used to buy Advocaat for Christmas, very yummy but must be fattening …

It must be, Smurf. My mother used to have a 'snowball' on Christmas eve and this tigers eye concoction of Christmas day.
Just checked and there is 205 calories in 100 ml of advocaat and a serving size is 30ml. Not in anyone's house though :D
A bit like Baileys I would think. Both yummy.
Question Author
306 calories in 100ml of Baileys. It's the cream and sugar which make them fattening and very 'moreish'.
Only drink reference I found, but serms unlikely. Possibly was a description only your family used.

Definitely not that, OG. Jagermeister wasn't sold in the UK before 2005 and I'm going back to the dark ages.

Thanks all, somebody else suggested Tia Maria and I think that's it. It's certainly the right colour.
