Is there really a difference apart from taste between mineral water and tap water?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ....and tap water doesn't come in a stinking lorry from France (or beyond), it doesn't need an environmentally dodgy plastic bottle and it isn't making vast profits for a handful of multinationals (Buxton, Perrier, Vittel and San Pellegrino all belong to Nestle, for example).
If your tap water is too chlorinated, try a water filter - it will soon pay for itself. If your water still doesn't taste good, try to get a water as local as possible to reduce transport. And just say "no" to premium brand water in restaurants. At my local Italian, San Pellegrino is more expensive than beer. How bizarre is that?
