Please Help Me Release My Soup!

Earlier this evening,I emptied a tin of soup,into a plastic(microwavable) bowl.It has four clips,which I clicked into place.I put the bowl in the microwave for 3 minutes.When it came out,it looks as if the lid has been stuck down,by a vacuum that has been created.

Try as I may,I cannot release the lid,not by any hot or cold methods.

Can anyone suggest how to release the lid,if not I shall have to just throw the whole thing in the bin.

I have tried puncturing the lid,but it is too thick and tough.It's made by Lock & Lock,which is a really well made product!

Any ideas guys?

Try levering the clips back with a spoon handle?

Can't help with how to open it but it's better to use microwave clingfilm or a upside down plate or saucer to cover containers in the microwave rather than a sealed lid.

All I can suggest is release the clips, put it back in the microwave for say 6 or 7 minutes then using heat-proof oven gloves remove it as quickly as possible and pull the lid off.

Don't seal anything you put in the microwave Gordon.  The lids should be not left on.  Ty are there to protect food before or after microwaving.   You have to let steam out whilst microwaving.  Better to use cling film and pierce it or lay a lid in gently leaving a gap.

Thank You all, I realise now what I should have(but did not ) do!

I think I will try the suggestion from Canary42,to release it.

In future I will try cling film(pierced).

Also the suggestion by Countrylover,I will just use a plate or saucer.

Oh the joys of being single again,as my partner used to do everything for me,it really is an education.

It was a nice Minestrone soup too! LOL

Just take care - it will be VERY HOT.

This suggests putting it in the oven for thirty seconds and then that should make it easy to release the lid.

. . . .and there might be quite a pressure built up, so great care needed to protect yourself should the hot soup squirt out.

Don't put it in for 6 or 7 mins as it will probably explode.

I don't know the answer but if it was mine, I'd put it to one side until tomorrow and leave it to fully cool down and retract, ( I think that's the word)

anything you put in the microwave just have a loose covering over it. No tight containers, if you do go down the cling film suggestion make sure it's pierced.

His death was very sudden, so I am having to catch up very fast!

That's ok you really don't need to explain, soup in the microwave should take 2 minutes. dependenant on the wattage. stir let it stand I give it 30 seconds then a further minute.
