...what's for dinner tonight (I call it tea actually, but I made a posh fish pie yesterday so dinner seems posher than tea)?

We're having the remains of the posh fish pie, with mushy peas tonight, we had frozen peas (defrosted and cooked before any clever clogs starts 🙄) with it last night.

And you, what does Thursday night bring to your plate? 🍽️

Sea bass sarnie

Question Author

Ooh, details please Roy..bread, sauce, butter, freshly cooked sea bass or leftovers????

Fillet steak, home made potato wedges, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes.  Unless people are coming for a multi-course meal - a dinner party so to speak  - we call it supper.   Suppers never include a pudding.  Just the single meal.

Vegetable stir-fry (sliced button mushrooms, sliced baby sweetcorn, red pepper, cashew nuts, onion, garlic, bamboo shoots and water chestnuts, ginger and oyster sauce) and steamed rice.

Did consider adding king prawns but decided not to.

I've made a giant Mac & cheese with 3 cheeses & layered with tomato slices.

Its interesting, this thing about dinner, tea, supper, whatever.

Supper to me is something like a biscuit and a milky drink just before bed. Dinner used to be at lunchtime but I now refer to that as lunch. Dinner doesn't really fit into my vocabulary, I use it sometimes to let anyone interested know it's the evening meal I'm referring to.

It is supper to us too.  I think he is having pork chop and fondant potatoes plus whatever veg I can find.

I am having a wild mushroom risotto with tarragon and madeira.

I do not like pork chop and he does not like risotto so that suits us!

Stewing steak, diced, onion, garlic, carrots, green slice beans, new potatoes, cooked in beef gravy.

We are having all the party finger food from the freezer we didn't get through on NYE.  Scampi, tempura prawns, sesame toast and onion bhajis probably with mayo.

I'm with you, Vagus, on the definition of "supper" 😊

"Suppers never include a pudding.  Just the single meal."

Candlelit, with Richard and Sheridan + select neighbours and the Royal Doulton with hand-painted periwinkles to the fore. 🤣

I'm still deciding. There's a large fillet steak in the fridge, half of that would be fine with some salad.  Or I could just have a Waitrose British Native Breed Rump Steak Beefburger with Blue Cheese on top.

I'm still deciding.

Roasted mixed Veg with leeks and Sausages, Tesco delivery due tomorrow so using up stuff.

'Tea' for me being a northerner... but isn't it typically English (No offence to Scots) to have tea in the afternoon/evening. Dinner is between Noon and one-ish.

You feeling alright, Douglas?

Tip-top and spiffy thanks. x

Dinner is pasta bolognaise and homemade bread rolls for himself.

i am having courgette bread, smoked turkey, cheese and pickles

Tonight it's Thai style slow cooker belly pork...loads of garlic, ginger, chillies, black pepper, fish sauce, fresh coriander, shallots, and halved baby plum tomatoes near the end. Haven't made in ages...I'm really looking forward to it.

Roast Irish Horeshoe Ham, with black butter glaze - was intended for New Year, but a dose of the flu/lurgy put me off cooking for a week.

Sprouts, new potatoes and parsley sauce.

Douglas, I know I've asked this before but I didn't get an answer so I'll ask again.  Are you a woman?

Chicken Tikka Masala & Vienetta was consumed at 12.30 (dinner time here for me in Scottyland) - for some unknown reason, referred to as lunch when going out!  Light tea at 5.30 or so - hot drink/biscuit or nil before bed.
