50 Years Of Abba

Fifty years since ABBA won Eurovision with Waterloo - and I've just watched part of the celebrations on television.  What an absolute joy!!  I can't post a link at the moment but if anyone else would like to, let's make it a party weekend and say - ABBA - Thank you for the music.

Can't believe it's been 50 yrs. I can remember exactly where I was and what I was doing.

I present a two-part Talk on ABBA for the cruise I work on, and they are always really well attended.

Not many people know, that all the individual music and vocal tracks are all double-tracked on ABBA singles, and the tapes are fractionally sped and slowed in different sections to give them a unique and distinctive sound.

The year I nearly burnt down the block of flats where I lived by leaving a pan of fat heating on the stove.

To be fair, I was entranced by the colour TV I had just acquired to replace an old black&white one (I had just got a job with Thorn TV Rentals and got a reduced deal) so my attention was diverted until I heard a whoof from the kitchen. It took some dealing with but the Fire Brigade weren't called thankfully.
