Harrods is selling cherries for £1.69 each.  That's £165 a kilo — with a punnet weighing 508g and containing around 50 costing £83.82.

I expect so, dave - someone will no doubt tell us that the USA is a member of the EU.

More pretentious dross for the beautiful people.

This has annoyed me with the Waitrose cherries:

Australia

South Africa

France

Greece

Chile

Argentina

Spain

United States

Canada

United Kingdom

That list is the 'country of origin'

They must have cherry picked a few from all over the world

What do you mean, Barry?  What's annoyed you?

Is 12.02 supposed to be a joke?

Yes, a bit lame, I know.

Naomi, I will only buy fruit that is grown in the UK, except for fruit that can't be grown here.  Impossible for me to buy cherries from. Waitrose online.

The world's ill decided.  Some Londoners can afford to pay that for a punnet of fruit while others queue at food banks.

Divided not decided.^

This phone is starting to show a mind of its own.

It's always been that way, Sandy, it will never change

Tesco: Produce of Argentina, Canada, Chile, France, Greece, Italy, South Africa, Spain, Turkey, USA, Belgium.

Sainsburys: Argentina, Canada, Chile, Greece, South Africa, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States.

Yes, same for all supermarkets which is one of the reasons I use the local greengrocer

There will always be the rich and the poor.  If you collected all the money in the country and divided it up equally, you would end up in the same situation because some would use it wisely - and the rest wouldn't.

Question Author

Barry, perhaps we don't grow enough fruit here to meet the requirements.

Look at the lottery winners that have somehow blown millions in a few years; and celebs like Katie Price who earned big money and apparently lost it.

Question Author

Exactly - whereas others have started with a market stall and ended up with a string of supermarkets.
