Peanut Butter Sandwiches

I'm partial to the odd peanut butter sandwich and just had one for lunch. But it occurred to me that it might be enhanced by adding an ingredient. But what?

Cheese goes with pickle. Or tomato or onion

Ham and mustard

Tuna and sweetcorn

Brie and cranberry

Peanut Butter and ????

I believe some Americans have it with 'jelly', which we call jam.

I've not tried it, myself.

The Yanks have it with "jelly" ie jam. I've had it with chilli jam and also with Marmite.

I have heard about peanut butter and jelly but prefer savoury for lunch.

I occasionally have it on toast for breakfast with banana - 😋

American jelly is not the same as jam, as it's not made with the whole fruit. It's more like a looser version of Robinsons jelly. We always had grape jelly at home when I was young.

A good thick slice of granary bread, smeared with marmite, a liberal layer of peanut butter topped of with cottage cheese.  Satisfying, nutritious and delicious

The café at the auction rooms in Diss used to do superb cottage cheese, peanut butter and celery sandwiches.  It's many years since I've visited those auction rooms but, if I go back, the first thing that I'll be checking out will be whether or not they still serve those gorgeous sarnies
