Just bought what I thought was 2 pints of milk from Budgen for £1.49.  Put it next to the 'real' Sainsburys 2 pints in the fridge (£1.25) ....  it is much smaller...  one litre!  1 3/4 pints.  Thieves.

Iceland is the same.

Why are they "thieves" when you're the one who made a mistake?

Presumably the Budgen milk was labelled with the volume (1 litre)?  Do you not have your eyes open when you shop? Your mistake in presuming it was 2 pints.

It's easy to get caught out - I was disappointed when I realised the Anchor butter I bought was 50g smaller than it used to be.

Tesco owns Budgens; they charge £1.20 for 2 pints of milk in their large Tesco stores but I suppose you are paying for convenience when you use the smaller shops

I just presumed it was 2 pints..  the size looked like it, till l got home.    Who checks the weight anyway?

Easily done

You made an incorrect  assumption so it's not their fault if you could not be bothered to check the size.

///Just bought what I thought ///

///I just presumed///

That's your problem, right there.

 ///Who checks the weight anyway? ///

I always check the weight and volume of what I am buying, it doesn't make any sense not to.

If I checked the weight of everything I bought I would be in the store for hours.  Like cutbacks in packets of biscuits or chocolate and the price has gone up.

Checking things might stop you from being thought an imbecile after you've accused a shop of thievery when it's your own fault.

Not just politicians who are mystified by milk related stuff then

My garage has two different suppliers of milk, sometimes it's 1 litre, others it's 2 pints, it's easy to distinguish from the physical size of the bottles.
