Microwave Fryer
1 Answers
I recently got one of these - can anyone tell me how to get it to do what it is advertised to do? That is, cook browned, crisp bacon, sausages, etc, in the microwave. I follow the instructions and pre-heat it for 3 minutes at 800 watts but the base that's supposed to do the browning gets barely warm. Even 6 minutes at 800 watts gets it only slightly warm. It's this that is supposed to give the fried food effect as I understand it. Am I doing something wrong or are these things just no good?

The idea is that it's preheated then with the food cooking on the plate, the plate warms from heat transfer of the food, this then dries/seals the outer surface of the food giving the fried effect. As a microwave Engineer the only time i've seen browning trays work if when they're used in combination ovens (convection, griil+microwave) and the oven is preheated to above 150 degrees Celcius. Hope this is of any help.
