What is the truth behind the so-called 'negative energy' foods? These are foods, such as celery, where the body supposedly expends more energy digesting the food than the calorific value of the food itself. For example, a stick of celery may contain 15 calories but the body may need to use 20 calories to digest it.

It seems very appealing, but can you really eat yourself thin?

Doctors put patients on a negative calorie diet before heart surgery as its the fastest, healthiest way to lose weight in the short term. I got a great negative calorie soup recipe off a medical website once. They have a diet that goes with it where you eat mostly soup and fruit & veg. I made it for my partner who said it was the nicest soup they'd ever tasted and lost 16lbs in 10 days. The downside to being on a negative calorie diet is that its not good for you in the long term and you'll soon get sick of eating the same thing. I suggest you google the negative calorie food list and create some recipes combining the food groups. Sorry I dont have a link to any of the sites for you.

ps. tomatoes are the best neg.calorie food you can eat. if you eat tomatoes before going to bed you should burn calories through the night (apparently).

I have that pre-heart operation regime, including the negative energy soup, on my wordprocessor and can send it to anyone who wants it, provided |I can do so without attracting 'spam' to either myself or to the recipient(s). It goes on two sides of A4 in a readable 14 point font (or thereabouts)
