With some politician making noises once again about "saving" the British pint of milk when almost everyone buys it in litres these days, does anyone else remember an attempt to replace bottled milk by supplying it in plastic bags?

I remember the attempt to put milk in bags, was it in the late 70s?
I remember a carton that could be flaterned to fit though the letter box. It was on the news but i dont know if it took off..
Yes - I lived in Pembroke in the early seventies and the milk was delivered in blue bags with a sort of blue plastic jug that the bag fitted into. It worked quite well in my opinion, but I am not sure about anything stored in plastic these days ! I have learn't a bit since then .

Not quite on topic but I've been to some fast food places in Singapore where they serve tea and coffee (to take away) in clear plastic bags with a straw.

When I first saw this it reminded me of taking goldfish home from the fair!
