I adore Hugh and his wonderful outlook on food and life. I know that he has a few River Cottage books but which one is the best and offers the tastiest most practical recipes (eel and placenta aren't everybody's cup of tea)? Thanks
The River Cottage Meat Book is my current bible - thicker than a telephone directory with excellent recipes (if you are a confirmed carnivore like myself) and just generally a damn good read.
I've got "The River Cottage Family Cookbook." It's got some great recipies in it, ranging from the ridiculously simple, up to more complicated stuff, all of which are down-to-earth practical foods (in fact, I recently posted a question about some cookies I made following his recipie.)
As a bonus, it's written in a way that's easy to follow, and geared around getting kids involved in helping the parents. There's plenty of pictures too, so you can see what your food should look like.
