taking food to France

does anyone know if there are any limitations on what food you can take with you to France? Like Milk etc...

You can't take uncooked meats.

They do sell milk in France so fill up on things they don't like good tea, pork pies, parsnips etc

Pork pies contain meat - so they are not allowed. But teabags are a must - you cannot get decent tea in france. And fruit and vegetables are great from the markets in France. I have never had to take anything other than Teabags.

I should have said that we're taking the caravan, so we will need to take our own food

In reality there will be no checks whatsoever on what you take.

There are shops and supermarkets in France - you don't HAVE to take any food.

Teresa, just cos you're taking the caravan doesn't mean you can't stop in the supermarkets. Actually if you're going near the hypermarkets like Leclerc and Carrefour you'll find them cheaper than at home. Mind you these hypermarkets are shut on Sundays and most french bank holidays but handy little supermarkets are open on these mornings. And as pork pies are filled with COOKED meat you can take them. I often do.

Obviously I'm expecting to be buying food over there - we're going for 2 weeks and a pint of milk will only last so long :-) ... Caravan cupboards aren't that big!

Seriously, when we were flying out to Tunisia a couple of years ago, we had some UHT milk with us - just for that first cup of tea when we got there. It was confiscated at the airport! Just didn't want to buy stuff for it to end up in the bin!

I may need that bowl of Crunchy Nut Cornflakes and wanted to make sure I had some milk to go with them!
