American recipes - Cup conversion confusion!

Is there an easy way of converting cup measures in American recipes. I have a recipe book which lists cup conversions, but it seems to be different amounts for different things (ie, wet/dry ingredients etc) that it seems so complicated. Any quick, easy-to-follow advice would be appreciated - Many thanks.

I would just buy myself a cup-size cup.
The volume is always the same, just the weight differs.

But with that cup your are good to go for anything.

Lakeland Ltd have a set called Rainbow Measuring Cups which are standard American cup sizes. Makes life a lot easier. www.lakelandlimited.co.uk
