Am seeking some interesting ways of jazzing up white fish as part of a cholesterol-lowering diet. Lots of taste and zing please. The grilled haddock & boiled potatoes we had tonight earned a resounding "thumbs down". Healthy it might have been but it was pretty unbearable, even smothered with lemon juice.

Hello

As an alternative to lemon juice try mashed kiwi on the fish.

Or you could try thai sweet chilli sauce before grilling.

Hey there Wendy, you know plaice, just grilled with lemon juice and, in moderation, a little margerine thats high in polys and a bit of ground pepper is fine... it's the salad that you can serve with it that can have the flavour, lettuce, toms, spring onions, grated carrot, beetroot, celery, red pepper and mustard and cress and new pots with fresh mint...
make a herby breadcrumb crust and cook in the oven....mix white breadcrumbs with lemon juice and any herbs you like, but loads of them and with salt and pepper. press it onto the top of the fish, drizzle with a little olive oil and bake in the oven....gorgeous. make crushed potatoes instead of plain boiled ones. boil as normal and mash a bit with a fork, not too much, add salt, pepper, and a bit of olive oil. really nice and good for cholesterol
how about trying a sprinkling of curry or sometimes a sprinlling of cumin.

Thanks to everybody for your suggestions. We'll look forward to trying out some of them out.

I make a stew/soup out of cod a few times per week. Stir fry some veg and garlic in olive oil until it is warmed through, then add your favourite vegetable stock, with some saffron. To this, add some frozen cod fillets, and bring to the boil. Heat on a simmer until the fish is separated and forms small chunks. Season with salt/soy sauce/worcestershire sauce and add some fresh parsley. You can make a simple broth by leaving out the veg and just using tomatoes and some chilli sauce.
