Choosing between two jobs
I was recently made redundant from my job in production for a magazine publishers. I have been offered two jobs - one as a Social Care Worker for a home with people with mental health problems (which relates to a job I did before graduating) and the other is a Direct Marketing Co-ordinator for a large insurance firm. I really can't decide what to take - obviously the insurance job is better paid (by about 3-5k) and the team are lovely and it relates more to my work experience, but the home would be a great new challenge for me, would give me the chance to do more training etc but I don't know if I'd really enjoy it as I've never done anything quite like it before, Mind you, that is the same for the other job too!
Any advice on how I should make this decision? I am totally lost!

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.try going to www.learndirect.co.uk and go into the careers advice section. There is a section there where you can take a short test which determines your skills and preferences. This might help you think about what is important to you within your job and help you to make a decision. The two jobs you have mentioned sound very different - might help if you think about where the jobs can go in the future career-wise and if this is where you want to go.
And of course, if after considering everything, you make the wrong choice, at least you've had a go, have got the experience and know it's not for you - plenty more opportunities out there.
Good luck deciding!
Obviously this is my personal experience, but I thought I would just let you know, from the perspective of someone who's been in a similar position xx
