When i was in Tesco today i came across a Dragonfruit. It's the most bizarre although colourful looking fruit i've ever seen! Does anyone know what it tastes like or if you can use it in cooking etc.

supposedly tastes like kiwi fruit, good for fruit salads and smoothies or for just scooping out and eating the flesh. couldn't find any recipes but if it's any help, it's also known as strawberry pear.

you could also check out this site...it would appear that you only eat it raw from the articles I have found!

Hi I bought my son a dragon fruit from Waitrose last week - he loves fruit and dragons!!

Anyway, when it was cut open the flesh is white with tiny black seeds, very much like kiwi seeds, it didn't taste much like a kiwi though - i thought it was a bit tasteless and no really worth the 2.49 i'd paid for it!!!

They come from Thailand and are very popular there. I agree with the other person though as although they look very pretty they are pretty tasteless. Interestingly they are much nicer closer to source and have a sweeter taste but from Waitrose in the UK, pretty bland.
I have just come back from a holiday in Thailand and wondered what this fruit was, we had it on the plane home. My son described it as tasting like kiwi, now I know its a dragonfruit. Ta
I had dragon fruit for my tea tonight (I live in Thailand) and it did, sadly, taste of nothing. Again. My daughter likes them though, so that's alright. Same basic idea as watermelon.

They're another fruit that looks better than it tastes. Beautiful red outer, white inner dotted wth tinyblack seeds. Refreshing but doesn't taste much of anything much.

I'vehad it raw and its also juiced
