Yep! I recall Texan Chew Bars. They came in yellow wrappers and you had to set aside an hour to eat one.
"A man's gotta chew what a man's gotta chew" (or something like that !!)
basically there was an advert where a red indian was waiting to set fire to a cowboy. He then muttered the immortal lines "you can't fire a man till he's eaten his texan bar". Consequently it took so long to eat his texan bar that the Indians fell to sleep and he escaped. Diddle Yays.
Yes siree, I sure do remember the Texan Bar! As a mild chocolate fan the Texan was one BAR I could not resist. I seem to re call that after they seemed to become obselete from the shop shelves (Why I dont Know) You could still get them for a few years later in Christmas selection boxes. Looking back the marketing of this product was brill! With the ultimate "strap line" A mans gotta chew what a mans gotta chew!! Once you had nibbled all of the chocolate off the nougat centre was ace for dipping in tea and coffee, more as a tooth preserver, oh yes and later bars definately got softer!!!
Texan slogan was "Sure is a mighty chew" wasn't it?
