Sandwich Toaster

Can anyone recommend a good sandwich toaster?

depends what you want it for ... there is probably not much difference between a 10 quid hinari one from argos and a 100 pound pannini maker from a kitchen shop - they both toast sandwiches. , one just lasts longer than the other and can take more sandwiches. If i was living in digs, i would buy the 10 quid one. If toasted sandwiches were a big part of my life i would buy the 100 quid one. In my experience st's are one of those kitchen implements that seem like a good idea, you have 10 days worth of sanwiches till it becomes covered in burnt cheese .. you put it away in the cupboard for months untill you come across it one day and think "what a good idea ... mmm a toasty", have 10 days worth again and then put it away again ... and so on ad infinitum!

Thanks 'kazza' for your reply. I think the comments about the use it will get is probably correct..............but I shall still buy one!

Someone offered me a toasted sandwich the other evening and that's what started me off.

I've got a sandwich toaster at the back of the cupboard somewhere! It was one of those that cut the toasties in half and I never rated it. If we have toasties now I cook them on my George Foreman grill which is brilliant.

Hi 'kizzy' thanks for the reply. I've got a George Foreman grill that i think is great.

Never thought of doing toasties on it. How do you manage to make them without the filling leaking?

I,ve had a dead cheap hinari one for about 8 years and I drag it out every now and again for a big round of toasties,& its makes the best cheese and spring onion toasties ever!

Everyone says so .....! My mam has a real expensive one and its dont even brown the toasties .......

mmmmm beans and cheese ones too ..... yum ...

the best 1 to use by far is the george foreman it dont burn or spill out and start from �20.00

As I said earlier, I do have a George Foreman Grill so I used it to make a toastie and was pleasantly surprised, so I think I'll stay with that.
