Each culture/country have their own special way of preparing their foods. Food that is well prepared and seasoned the right way, will taste good.
Have you ever tasted something that you don't like, or care too much for, and after tasting it you concluded that it was not bad? I think it's a matter of preference. We tend to like and enjoy the foods we grew up on, and they always seem to be the most enjoyable and comforting foods. I am mixed with 3 different nationality. I love all the different dishes but my favourite is what my mother cooked when i was growing up. I grew up eating extremely spicy food. If food is not spicy it will not taste good to me. When I cook for my friends I have to prepare the foods less spicy so they can eat and enjoy it.

I've only been lucky enough to visit for a holiday i'm afraid. I found their food very tasty, very plentiful and quite diverse....as well as extremely fattening.
But i do enjoy the whole "mediterranean type scene" when it comes to food and cooking. The amount of fresh ingredients, the superb use of herbs and the alfresco dining which can take the whole evening with all the family gathered round.
Probably why i enjoy doing a barbeque every week with lots of mates round.

Thats a tough question and i agree with almost everyone, i love italian, indian, the traditional roast but on the whole i think what ever is local to the place preparing it is the best, i mean the simplest things like fruit and salad taste so much better in the country they are grown in because they are fresh and ripen there instead of being picked under ripe and transported halfway across the world before being ready to eat. Home grown veg is the same and you can't beat a french stick and brie in paris or lasagne al forno in rome and roast beef and yorkshire pud back home. Neither can anywhere else make fish and chips like the brits
I've been to Italy about three or four times and never eaten badly, but the best Italian food I have eaten has been in Germany.
I'm also a big fan of Turkish cuisine. I've eaten superbly well in Istanbul and Gaziantep, but the best of all was in Northern Cyprus.
Perhaps my favourite cuisine is Lebanese. Never been to Lebanon, sadly, but again the best Lebanese food I've had was in Germany.
Having said that: roast beef, my dad's Yorkshire pud, Bisto gravy...
