Does any one know of a food called 'frizettes' - W W2 savory pancake

My father-in-law talks about these and it has been an on-going challenge since I joined the family to try and find these in the shops.

I think it could be in packet form so you add water or milk and it might have potato, or onion in it.

I have tryed specialist places but everyone looks at me like I am weird!!

I remember them well, how I loved them as a child but sadly they are no longer available. Probaly just as well as no doubt they were stuffed with calories! They did come in a packet and you mixed into a batter with milk then dropped spoonfuls of the mix into hot oil. So nice, especially for breakfast with bacon and egg.
I think he is having a laugh at your expense. Different regions have names for foods . In those days nothing came in packets, even the sugar was weighed from a large sack. 2 possibles/ grated potato,grated onion mixed together and shallow fried. Potato cakes,cold mashed potato,cold boiled onion,alittle flour to bind,rolled out like scones ,shallow fried. I sometimes use an egg yolk as well, but there wernt many of those around then either. Hope this helps.

Frizzets often comes up in posts and each time I'm transported back to my childhood in the '50's when my mum would cook this with grilled bacon for breakfast.

I think Chris has said they were withdrawn in the late 1950's but we were still eating them in the 60's - or perhaps they were just old stock! Were they made by the Creamola Foam people? Memory does play tricks I know, but I have visions of Greens being on the Frizzet packets. I do remember the overall flavour was an oniony savoury sort of taste - but like most of the childhood food(Symingtons Jelly Creams, Table Creams etc) sadly no longer with us.
Cetti's post is interesting and relevant (as his/her posts invariably are) but perhaps the most important thing to note is yet another spelling variation. I've just Googled 'Frizzets' and, as Cetti suggests, there are several references.

Frizettes weresold in a packet..By the C.o.o.p .Made of egg/potato & herbs.It was Mixed with milk ,To make a stiff yellow batter.&Fried like a pancake mix.Delicious,But i have not seen it for years.
I remember back in the 1960,s frizetes for breakfast on a sunday morning, egg, bacon and frizetes o boy!! my mouth waters.
I can still taste them to this day, they were Golden, Crispy at the edges and I remember that they formed tiny bubbles in the mixture as they fried in the hot bacon fat.
The taste was as I remember it, it must have included Cellery salt, Powdered Egg, but it also had a sort of dry but pleasent after taste.
About 20 years ago I sold an Air conditioning system to the
CO-OP's Computer Suite in the Wirral, where all purchases were ordered, The computer manageress at the time checked the name frizettes /frizzettes ect but the CO-OP's records did'nt go back far enough to help.
I do remember my Granny used to buy it for my Mum
from the CO-OP shop in Dovecote Shops, Liverpool, it was the only and nearest place we could get Fizettes around our end of Liverpool.
The CO-OP is most definately the Key, it was the only place I know of, were it was available, and it was in a white and yellow box. A well as Elvis Bring Back Frizettes.
I remember this product well and have been trying to find the recipe for years, it was sold by the Co-op (Coventry & Disrict) as their own brand in a packet priced 9d (old pence. It contained flour, baking powder, mustard powder but I dont know the quantities, you mixed it in a small bowl with milk & water then dropped desertspoonful's into a hot fryingpan. As the writer says, absolutley delicous with breakfast I hope you find the recipe and post it.
I remember frizets (frizettes) from my youth. Because of the general interest from so many people I decided to try and recreate the recipe. It has taken a fair bit of time and with the help of my wife, who is a Clinical Research Manager, we carefully measured and recorded our many efforts. I believe that I have 95% of the 'taste' in the current ingedients mix. I will soon try and get the texture better. if anyone is interested in receiving the recipe after completion, I may publish it. Please let me know.

We used to have Frizets (?sp) as part of our breakfast way back in the 1950s. They came in a packet and you just added water to make a batter, a bit like scotch pancakes. I have never found anything like them. Recently I was mixing up some gram flour with water and the smell immediately brought them to mind so I am wondering if they were made using pea flour. 
We used to fry them in lard. I'm not sure they would taste the same fried in healthy olive oil!
