Anyone tried these? What do you think? An Australian colleague bought the double coat variety in to work and I think they are very tasty. She got annoyed that people were comparing them to Penguins though! They are much nicer than that.

My daughter introduced me to them and my wife is hooked !! Apparently, you have to eat them with a cup of coffee - you bite off two of the diagonal corners and use them as 'straws' to suck the coffee through them. Can't see it myself but it seems they enjoy the experience !!

Yeah the oz workmate also said about that too, i'm interested to try it not that i actually like any hot drinks though! Be interesting to watch...
there just like Penguins , and you can buy them at Tescos .
my boyfriend spent a year in oz before we met and on a trip to edinburgh last year we spent a fortune on these things from harvey nicks! he raved and raved about them ! when i actually tried one i wasnt bowled over..lol ..he did say they are better dipped..
on a trip to australia i was also taught how to eat a timtam by sucking coffee through them - but having experimented with this technique on some of our biscuits - i have come to the conclusion that the best ever - beating timtams hands down - is sucking coffee through a fox's chocolate rocky bar - mmmm - i want one now!!
Tim Tam Slam a caramel one by chilling it then sucking tea or coffe through it. The choc and biscuit go mushy whilst the caramel stays chewy. Heaven!
they do look and taste similar to penguins but I find tim tims crispier
but dunno what all the hype is all about. Like you an Aussie mate of mine went mental when she found out tesco stocked them. I guess it's just the memories of "back home" it conjures up for her
Scotman - my friend made me try Tim Tams with opposite corners bitten off and coffee sucked thru as described. It was one of the worst experiences ever in my life. YUK! Sure they are probably ok if you don't violate them with hot drinks...
