Limescale splashes on Water Filter Jug

Is there any foolproof way of removing limescale splashes on a water filter jug? . Both inside & outside always look grotty even when wiped clean. Am wary of putting it in the dishwasher (without cartridge of course) as a previous acryllic jug I put in ended up permanently blurred and misted.

Wipe with neat vinegar - it dissolves limescale, you may have to do it a couple of times.
