Why is a 500ml bottle of sprit fizzier then a 2lt bottle?

the change to atmospheric pressure will more easily release the gas compressed in a smaller volume of liquid. And even though the drink from the 2L bottle should be approximately as fizzy at first, because you tend to leave it longer more of the gas will escape into the space above the surface over time.
