Pay disputes at work and not in a union
4 Answers
Hi,
just wondering if anyone can advise me on the best thing to do when you have a pay dispute but are not in a union.
I work for the prison service and stupidly have never got round to joining any of the unions. The pay unit are now trying to drop my salary by 2500 (which is a lot for me!) and i dont know where to turn for advice. Some one has said citizens advice, but does anyone else have other suggestions, in particular with regard to getting help with the legal side of things if it goes to a tribunal?
thanks
Gemma

This isn't because of any great benevolence on their part. It's just that they wouldn't want your situation to set a precedent for what might happen to one of their existing members. Speak to the local representatives and see what they say.
