Anyone know of any good UK online websites where I can purchase "REBEL YELL" Bourbon. The site I got it from last time no longer seems to stock it. I have whiskeyuk and whiskey exchange in 'my favourites' but they're no use

If you're in the North West then I suggest you pay a visit to Byrnes Wine Shop, Clitheroe. If anywhere stocks it it will be here. If you're not in the area you could always give them a ring.

Thanks for your help Spudqueen. I live in Bolton,so not too far away. I'll see if they have a web page first,if not i'll phone.
From 'Scotland on Sunday' - 26th October 2003...

"Rebel Yell, Louisville, Kentucky, Alc 40%, 14.99
Most drinkers would be hard pressed to tell this bland spirit was bourbon. Leave it on the shelf, and buy the Jim Beam. Its 48p more, but well worth it. 3/10 Safeway"

Still, each to his own, I guess! :-)

Evening,Heathfield: That's a bit rich from a country that gives us "Bells"
For some reason, the son likes it. When I was in states, one guy said it's better than Jim (beam) but not as good as Jack ( Daniels) that about sums it up for me
Has your son tried Makers Mark - it is very smooth.
Agree about the Bell's - though they've improved it a bit lately, (they had to!).

But Jack Daniels ain't bourbon, it's Tennessee whiskey. Bourbon, by law, can only be produced in Kentucky.
"Not a lot of people know that" ;-)

BBWCHAT:
Not sure if son's tried it, I have and found it quite nice. I was amazed after looking at various sites, just how many diferent selections there are.
Still nothing compares with JD.

I did know about JD Heathefield. I think they're made the same way,but as you say,has to be from Kentucky for the name Bourbon
Keep - I have never tried that brand - but maybe it is just the catchy name your son really likes - living here in the Southern USA of course I can appreciate that :) It is also in a song I like :)
Question Author
BBWCHATT:
You could be right about his original attraction to it being through the name.It does have a certain ring. Rather limited over here as to selection of Bourbons and US Whiskys. Out of curiosity, what's the song?
Bourbon whiskey doesn't have to be produced in Kentucky. It is considered a national drink of America and can be legally produced anywhere in the States.

There are, however, many strict rules about bourbon production. I believe the reason Jack can't be classed is that it goes through the Lincoln County Process - filtration through sugar maple charcoal.
Rebel Yell by Billy Idol?
Keeprockin - I think it is an old Billy Idol song called Rebel Yell - a line that goes "with a Rebel Yell I cried more, more, more"
Question Author
Wish you wouldn't say OLD when using recent singers. It makes me feel about 90 :). I thought it may have been a country song
Keeprockin - let me re-phrase that - one of Billy Idol's greatest hits:)

I am an old lady myself so I understand.

Now why did you think it was country - not all of us Southern old ladies listen to country - some of us still "rock on"!!! :) Although I will admit to occasionally listening to Willie & Waylon and the boys (like Toby Keith) :)
Question Author
Title just has Country ring to it. I thought you southern gals would be sqeezing the accordian to swamp/cajun. Now,Now,No need for that language :)
lol Keeprockin - now you have this Tennessee country old lady mixed up with the Louisiana old ladies:) I do have a cousin who moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana many years ago, so I have been there several times over the years - and I do like some of the Zedeco music!!! Here in Chattanooga, Tennessee - about 1-1/2 hours from Nashville, Tennessee there are a lot of country music fans - but a lot of other kinds too:)
Question Author
Waiting for someone to say something about it not being a chat link. :)
Been to Nashville, grand ole oprey, the new one,not the original.I also like country as well, the old stuff,Vernon Oxford,Hank Snow
Keeprockin - don't worry about what anyone says - we aren't doing anything to hurt anyone. When you were in Nashville, you were close to:

JD's I wouldn't have mind seeing, but we had friends who'd set out an itinery, and camp sites. Mammoth caves, kentucky stud farm, cumberland gap etc. It took a full day just to look round the Oprey theme park
Try Wild Turkey, smoother than JD or JB, bit more expensive, but worth it
