I am going to attempt a football shaped cake for my son's birthday and even though i know you can get half ball shaped tins i was wondering if it could be done in a Pyrex bowl? Anyone have any experience of this? Thanks

I once made a pair of breasts for my husbands birthday out of pyrex bowls,so I should think sandwiching them together would give you the ball your looking for.

Thanks peapod! Do you have a recipe i could use to make sure the bowl is filled?
Aone and half pint bowl will give you a circumference of 19" and depth8". A two and a half pint Cir 28" and Height 10".If you are making the bigger one I think a 12oz mixture for each half.If you only have the one bowl I would make it twice as cake mix tends to loose its rise hanging about....12oz marg,12 ozs caster sugar,12ozs sr flour, 3 large eggs.It only needs to be three quarters full as it should rise to the top.The smaller one maybe 8oz each half. Any over make fairy cakes.
