mix together 8oz pork mince with 8oz minced steak. 1 small onion chopped finely, 2-3 cloves garlic crushed, 2 tsps mixed herbs or fresh if you have them salt and black pepper and bind together with egg. roll into small balls and fry so they are brown all around and add to pasta sauce......enjoy!!

Thanks. Do I use the whole egg to bind them or just teh yolk/white?
I use a whole egg, beaten.
I do a lower fat version with minced turkey (leave out the egg as the meat is already moist). As previous post with onion, garlic & herbs but I also add half-a-teaspoon of dried ground cumin or crushed chillies. If you want a really low fat version, leave out the frying stage and drop the pre-formed balls into the hot pasta sauce. It has to be piping hot to seal the meat otherwise the turkey balls will break up.
I used this one courtesy of Jenufa, and they were beautiful....

Just combine 500g beef mince with 25g fresh breadcrumbs, 25g grated parmesan, 1 egg, 1 small onion finely chopped and a crushed clove of garlic.

Form into about 24 small balls with wet hands.

Heat 1 Tablespoon olive oil in a large fry-pan and cook until browned all over.

Pour over 100ml red wine and let it bubble away for about five mins until syrupy.

Then add a 400g tin of chopped tomatoes and a handful of chopped basil.

Season the meatballs prior to cooking to your own particular taste.

Simmer the lot for about 30 mins and serve over freshly boiled pasta.
I always crumble a couple of Oxo cubes into the mixture before I make them into balls along with the garlic minced onions etc.,But be careful with how much herb mix you put in as you don't want to overpower everything with the taste of basil and oregano.......
