Brown Turkey Fig
2 Answers
I have just been given a 'Brown Turkey' fig. It is immature and in a pot. According to the instructions I need to put it in a 15" pot to restrict the root growth (so that it will produce lots of fruit) and then bury it in a sheltered south-facing spot.. 15" seems very small and I don't know whether it's the measurement for depth or circumference.
Help please.

Since it is Spring now, it's a great time to just go ahead and plant your tree. No matter the size, just put it in the ground. We have 4 turkey figs which get direct Northern winds and the cold never hurts them.
You didn't say where you live, and we are in the deep South, but it shouldn't be a problem for you. Good luck!
The trick to producing good fruits is to prune the tree at the right time to keep it strong and stocky- after the crops is harvested. Then you pray the birds don't find them.
