Toast some oatmeal lightly in the oven or thick-bottomed frying pan.Beat a bowlful of cream to a stiff froth, and stir in a handful or two of the oatmeal, making it not too substantial, ie the cream must predominate. Sweeten to taste, and flavour with rum or vanilla essence. Throw in a few handfuls of fresh berries. ie blaeberries, raspberries, brambles, or others. It sounds quite nice I might try it myself. By the way it's spelt cranachan in my book.
Here's a slightly different version with a pretty picture to go with it. http://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/usrecipes/cr
