still have an unopened pack of smoked salmon in the fridge, in 2 minds whether to eat it or chuck it. i know that fish can be dodgy but surely because salmon is cured with salt, would not still be ok to eat?? the date on it is the 10th may 07.

throw it for sure.do not take a chance.
I always smell things. If it looks alright and smells alright it usually is. Yogurts last far longer than the sell by date...
This should be in food and drink I think.
If it was a couple of days, I would eat it, no problem. 13 days is a bit much though, I don't think would like to risk it.

Saying that, after the news about Tesco and Sainsburys selling out of date meat, who knows what we eat and how old it is!!
I would n't take the risk bubbles , not worth having to sit with a bucket in your hands and a loo nearby is it ?
eww bin it !!! bin it nowwww!!!!

order a pizza instead!
I'm not usually fussy about best before dates (except with chicken) but it is a good while out of date, I wouldn't risk it if i were you
I'd eat it. Is it a "best before" or "use it by" date?
I always ask myself - if it is vacuum packed and was safe and bug-free when it was packaged, what could have happened to it in the fridge to make it unsafe ? Having said that, for the sake of a couple of quid it's never worth taking the chance.
In the days before fridges and vacuum-packing my mother had a motto: "When in doubt, chuck it out." It wasn't just because of the health hazard but the fact that it is difficult really to enjoy food if you are wondering whether every mouthful is poisoning you.
