Can a car window shatter from sitting out in 90-100 degree weather closed up?

We left our car in a car park (no - not in the shade) in Florida when it was 104 degrees F and the windows did not shatter!

Surely the glass is formed at a temperature far higher then 100'F so would not even be close to shattering and would melt rather than shatter.
The only way glass would shatter is going from intense heat to sub-zero immediately and that aint gonna happen !

You've probably heard this on a radio advert. Cold morning, tiny defect in the glass, you turn on the heater - crash!! Don't worry we can repace it free of charge if you have comprehensive insurance! Or we can give a free 'health' check to your car! They just want your money, or your insurance companies money.
Yes thanks but I dont want to lose my no claims to a conman like you and pay the excess, and besides i'm third party. In the ulnikely event of my windscreen shattering through temperature differentials i'll get a new one at my local garage and pay �100 out of my own pocket.

I have witnessed car windscreens that have had no obvious defects shatter when not a sinner was near them sitting stationary on a normal day.
