Hungry Backpacker....

can anyone help?
I'm backpacking around Australia and am bored of 2 minute noodles!
What are some of your favourite budget recipes?
Also I have limited equipment and no oven or grill in the hostels! Just a microwave and stove, thanks!

Thaw frozen spinach.
Break some eggs and whisk some of the spinach in with them - since I love spinach I make mine heavy on the spinach side.
A little butter/margarine in a frying pan - add the egg spinach mixture and cook just like scrambled eggs.
I eat them this way - and I also sometimes make a wrap with them by putting a little mayo on the flour tortilla and putting a generous portion of the cooked green eggs on it.
Note: I have used canned spinach before - I don't like it as well as the frozen - but even with canned it is still good.

A can of green beans.
2 small potatoes
Onion to taste.
Slice the potatoes (don't peel them) and put them in the bottom of a microwave safe container that has a lid or lay a plate over top of it so things don't dry out.
Chop or slice the onion and put on top of potato.
Open the green beans and pour the whole thing on top.
Microwave about 5 minutes or until when you stick a fork in the potatoes they are soft.
You can put in a little butter or margarine if you want to, but I don't think it needs it.

Grilled Cheese Sandwiches
2 Slices of Bread - butter the outside of each slice.
Place the first slice of bread, butter side down in a non-stick frying pan.
Add slices of you favorite melting cheese.
Put the other slice of bread on top of that - with the butter side out.
Fry until the bread is brown on one side and then flip it over and brown the other side.
The outside should be brown and crispy and the cheese soft and melted.

Hey I'm a backpacker in Oz too. Luckily I've managed to blag myself a flat share as I'm gonna be in Sydney for a while so can do cheap supermarket food!
But I've found food halls in shopping centres do a massive selection of stuff all reasonably cheap, even if you just treat yourself once a week or so. Not sure if the Outback would have these though. I'll find out in a couple of months I guess....
I mainly live on cereal, toast and microwave meals at the mo!
